The .docx is a fixed-layout table with two hidden spacer columns, so the 3.175 mm gaps between stickers are real space rather than cell padding. Type in a cell and the text stays inside that sticker.

Avery 5160 Word template FAQ
Why do most Avery 5160 Word templates print slightly off?
Because a Word table resizes to fit its contents unless the layout is fixed and the row heights are exact. With at-least heights, one long line of text makes row 7 taller, and every row below it lands lower than the label under it. This template sets fixed table layout and exact row heights, so a row cannot grow past its sticker.
Can I put barcodes in the Word template?
Not with Word alone — Word has no barcode field that computes a UPC check digit. Paste an image exported from the maker on this page into a cell, or print the whole sheet from the maker instead, which sets the symbol at the correct magnification and quiet zones automatically.
Does this work with Avery 8160 and 8460 as well?
Yes. 5160, 8160 and 8460 are all 1 × 2⅝ in, 30-up on US Letter, so the geometry is the same. The number on the box refers to the coating and printer type, not the layout.
